Gratitude
The sun is shining, the lilac bushes are in full bloom, and the great horned owls that lay their eggs in the same tree every year on the VA hospital’s front lawn have come to nest. Consequently, I just finished up with my last patient in my last clinical internship of graduate school. I am done. There is nothing left for me to do but graduate.
Saying goodbye to my supervisors, my fellow intern, and the Boise VA Medical Center was a little emotional. It has easily been one of my favorite clinical experiences in grad school and it is truly a place I would love to work at someday. My supervisors were so supportive and were excellent teachers and it was fun co-treating sessions with my fellow intern. But best of all, my patients were the best population of people I could have hoped to work with.
As I close this chapter of my life, I reflect back on it with nostalgia. I am so grateful to been able to pursue my master’s degree in a variety of settings and surrounded by people that were very supportive. I have learned so much during these past 21 months and have grown in immeasurable ways. Although I hate to say goodbye to places and people, I am beyond excited to enter this next stage of life and see all that God has in store for me.
